Training principles

Training activities conducted by Frontex are based on three principles. The first principle is the legal basis provided by Council Regulation 2007/2004, Article 5, which gives Frontex general tasks in the field of training, as well as some other documents, e.g. the Conclusions of JHA Council Meeting 27-28 April 2006, in which Frontex was invited to develop and implement specific training in the area of returns (see above).

The second principle is direct cooperation with Member States (MSs). Based on this principle, the MSs are involved in the development of Frontex training initiatives, curricula and training-material and temporary sub-project leaders from MSs are deployed under the lead of Frontex.

Finally, the third principle refers to the implementation in MSs that is done by transfer of common training modules into the national ones. Frontex training coordinators thereby play the key role.
