Stolen cars detection training
15-05-2007
Based on the recommendation of Frontex risk analysis Frontex has initiated the development of a training tool to enhance the skills of national border guards in detection of stolen cars during border control at external land borders.
The training tool was developed in cooperation with experts from Austria and Hungary. It is composed of two parts, namely the detection of stolen cars itself and investigation after having a real suspected car/driver.
The training is being implemented through training sessions by trainers from Austria and Hungary. Since the beginning of 2007, the sessions have taken place in Hungary and are ongoing in Slovakia in May with 200 border guard officers having been trained in these two countries.
This training tool will be used also in other Member States that have external land borders. During 2007, training sessions will take place in the Baltic States and in Poland.
