Security in FRONTEX

The tasks and responsibilities of Frontex require it to take measures to protect its personnel, the information it handles and processes, its premises and equipment and its communication channels. The protective measures required may vary according to the nature of the different tasks and the risk-assessment connected to the different activities of Frontex. To this end Frontex has developed a security policy that provides the basic framework for all protective measures intended to safeguard the interests of Frontex, including its personnel.

In order to facilitate communication and information exchange with EU institutions and the EU member states as well as the associated countries the security policy of Frontex is in line with the similar policies implemented by other EU institutions, like the European Council and the European Commission.

For the protection of its head-quarters located in Warsaw, Poland, Frontex works closely together with the competent Polish authorities.
