General Information on Staff

Personnel policy of FRONTEX is based on its establishment plan, which defines the number of staff members in the agency. FRONTEX does not consist of officials employed on permanent contracts.

The staff of the agency is composed of Temporary Agents and Contract Agents, who are selected by means of the open recruitment procedure.
- FRONTEX is supported by a number of Seconded National Experts (SNEs). They are national or international civil servants or persons employed in the private sector deployed to work temporarily for FRONTEX under the rules applicable to such experts.
SNEs have a dual role: to bring to the Agency their experience of the issues they are used to dealing with where they normally work and to take back to their home administration the knowledge of issues which they acquired during their secondment.
